The collaboration between movie publisher 20th Century Fox and Ubisoft Motion Pictures to adapt the successful Assassin’s Creed franchise for cinemas, seems to work out very well.
As Forbes reported on Monday, the Assassin’s Creed movie – starring Michael Fassbender – is doing very well at the box office and could double its overseas box office over the last weekend.
Before the weekend the film had around $50 million in foreign grosses and earned another $45m over the weekend due to its opening in some major markets like Switzerland, Chile, Greece, Israel, Denmark, Poland, Mexico, and Russia.
In terms of domestic grosses Assassin’s Creed made $49.5m up to know, and passed Warcraft with that which only made $47m.
All together the movie earned $148m worldwide up to now, but is still missing the opening in some markets like Brazil, Sweden, Argentina, China, or Japan. That said it is very likely that the movie that cost $125m to produce, can be seen as a hit and maybe a successful start of a movie franchise as well.
